Paula Kovacs gave a talk on ‘The Museum of Carpet’ at the April meeting.
Paula, who manages the museum and helped set it up in its current home (sharing the Morrison’s supermarket building, Green Street, Kidderminster), explained how the exhibits are arranged to tell the story of carpet manufacture and the history of the industry.
There is plenty of action at the museum with the use of local people’s knowledge and skill to inform the next generation using the museum exhibits.
Photographs showed an interesting beautifully-restored and decorated building housing original looms, pictures and artefacts.
Look out for the revival of the carpet race at the Carnival, won last year by a team from West Midland Safari Park, and many other events organised at the museum at museumofcarpet.org.uk ‘The Real Dad’s Army’ will the title for a talk by Malcolm Atkin at the meeting on Wednesday, May 15 at Chaddesley Corbett Village Hall at 7.30pm.
