THE speaker in November was John Gruen talking about the romance of chocolate. John had worked as an engineer for Cadbury’s for over 30 years mainly involved in new products.
He told us a little about the history of chocolate and Cadbury’s and we had a nostalgic look at several of the Cadbury products and their associated adverts.
To celebrate the millennium John was involved in the making of the world’s largest chocolate bar which became an entry in the Guinness book of world records. It was a very entertaining evening made even more enjoyable by John’s personal anecdotes and the generous sampling of Cadbury’s Roses chocolates.
The Christmas party, was a very relaxed evening with mulled wine and a superb buffet. Entertainment was provided by Paul Harding who spoke about a Tudor Christmas.
Julie organised the party game Twelve Days of Christmas and Kath’s left right pass the parcel.
