The AGM of the Club was held on Friday 22 January at Clent Village hall and a healthy turn out of members were in attendance to hear the chairman report on another successful year for this thriving village club. He reported that, although overall membership was slightly down on previous years the monthly meetings were generally well attended and during the preceding 12 months had enjoyed a variety of interesting speakers culminating with our first ever celebrity speaker in November. He also reported on two enjoyable outings and a successful annual Flower Show held in conjunction with Clent WI.

The chairman thanked all members for supporting the club during 2015 and in particular the officers and committee members and various club members who had assisted at the Flower Show and the monthly meetings.

The honorary treasurer presented the accounts for both the club and the annual Flower Show which both made healthy reading.

Election of officers followed and John Partington was re-elected as honorary president, Martin Grange as chairman, Peter Orme as honorary treasure and Ann Hunt as honorary secretary.

The chairman then presented garden vouchers and a pot of seasonal daffodils as a token of the club’s gratitude to three retiring committee members namely, Marie Turner, Janet Babb and former chairman Pat Orme each of whom had given many years of service to the club.

The chairman reminded members that the first meeting of 2016 would be held at the Village Hall on Friday 26 February with a talk by Patrick Clement entitled “Garden moths and butterflies”. The meeting closed following which members enjoyed a pleasant social gathering fortified by a glass of wine and a few light refreshments.

All are welcome at the meetings which are held at Clent Village Hall on the fourth Friday each month and anyone interested in either joining or just visiting the club can get further details by going to clentgardeningclub.wordpress.com or by contacting the chairman Martin Grange 01562 883009/07917 184762.
