CELEBRITY couple Christine and Neil Hamilton were the special guests as a Clow’s Top company previewed new products.

The Hamiltons visited M&M Timber, which had invited some of its biggest customers to the event at its 25-acre woodland headquarters.

Around 120 guests from the retail trade attended, touring the company’s manufacturing workshops and timber treatment plant.

The programme included a launch of the company’s new garden products, promotional items and extended ranges for 2012.

A five-course lunch with M&M Timber directors and staff was followed by an after-dinner speech by Mrs Hamilton, star of TV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. She was accompanied by her husband, former Conservative MP and Minister for Corporate Affairs, Neil.

The day concluded with an awards presentation.

Guests were welcomed by three generations of the family-run garden and landscape timber manufacturer - chairman George Poyner, managing director Nigel Poyner and George Poyner Junior.

They saw the level of investment in state-of-the-art production facilities the company had committed to over the past few years, including drying kilns and pressure treatment plants used in its preservation process.

During the workshop tour visitors were also able to see a showstand, still under construction before its installation at Birmingham’s NEC exhibition centre for the this year’s Garden and Leisure Industry Exhibition (GLEE).

“We couldn’t have wished for a better day,” said Nigel Poyner, “After a particularly poor spell of weather for the time of year, we were treated to a full day of sunshine, giving everyone the opportunity to see our outdoor display of new products at their leisure, while socialising with our guests, Christine and Neil Hamilton.”
