A COOKLEY subpostmaster is celebrating 30 years’ service with the Post Office.
Tony Higley received a long service award from post office field change advisor Scott Lacey after celebrating 30 years of service to his customers in the village.
Mr Higley began his career as a subpostmaster in Cookley in 1983, when, with wife Corrine, he purchased the Cookley Post Office.
The couple have worked together in the branch providing services to the community ever since. Alongside the post office in Bridge Road, the couple also run the general store and off licence.
Mr Higley, a former England Colts under 19 rugby captain, is still a keen follower of the sport, supporting local clubs Stourbridge and Worcester.
He said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of running the branch and serving the local community.
The last 30 years have been great and I would like to thank my customers for their loyal support over the years.”
Mr Lacey added: “It’s great to be able to recognise the hard work that our subpostmasters put in and I would like to congratulate Tony on his 30 years of service.”
