REMEMBRANCE Sunday services and parades across towns in Wyre Forest and South Shropshire will fall silent to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Remembrance Day will be marked with events on Sunday in Kidderminster, Stourport, Bewdley, Wolverley, Cookley and Cleobury Mortimer.

In Kidderminster, a parade through the town to St Mary’s and All Saints Church will assemble at 10.15am at the New Road car park.

From 10.30am, it will march up New Road and Vicar Street, through the Bull Ring and arrive in front of the church for 10.50am.

There will be a service and councillors and civic dignitaries will the lay their wreaths.

Wyre Forest District Council chairman Fran Oborski said she would be laying a wreath on behalf of the local authority and another on behalf of Kidderminster’s Polish community as Honorary Polish Consul for the West Midlands. Mrs Oborski added the parade would involve more young people, who will lead the march back to Kidderminster Town Hall to help take the salute.

A parade through Stourport will set off from the Royal British Legion club in Lichfield Street at 10.30am, marching along Severn Road, Mitton Street and Vale Road to arrive at the Cenotaph at 10.50am.

A service will take place at St Wulstan’s and St Thomas Canterbury Church at 11.15am and the parade will reassemble at 12.30pm, matching through High Street, York Street and back to Lichfield Street.

In Bewdley, the parade, led by the Scout and Guide band, will leave the Bowling Club off River Side North at 10.45am, marching through the town to arrive at St Anne’s Church at 10.55am for an 11am service.

At noon, the parade will reassemble and the mayor will take the salute as organisations pass the Guildhall.

In Wolverley, a small service will take place inside the Memorial Hall at 10am. The parade will assemble outside the venue at 10.15am and leave at 10.25am for a 10.45am service at St John’s Baptist Church.

The Cookley parade will meet outside the Bull’s Head, Bridge Road at 6.10pm for a 6.15pm start and march to St Peter’s Church for a service at 6.30pm.

In Cleobury Mortimer, a remembrance service will be held from 10.30am until 11.30am at St Mary the Virgin Church.
