POPPY appeal organisers in Wolverley and Cookley have praised the generosity of residents as they edge towards matching last year’s fund-raising total.

Karen Wallbank, who runs Wolverley and Cookley Royal British Legion’s appeal, said £7,166 had been raised so far, with more money still to be counted.

“I would like to thank all the collectors who collected at Cookley, Wolverly, Franche and Habberley,” she added. “People have been so generous this year.”

The group is trying to reach the £7,500 mark set after last year’s appeal.
