STAFF of a Kidderminster store have been encouraging shoppers to take the lead and donate pet food and treats to Forest Dog Rescue.

Wilko, in Market Street, was keen to support the Far Forest-based charity, which looks after unwanted, abandoned and mistreated dogs from across the Midlands.

An in-store pet food collection point has been set up for customers to drop off donations including bones, toys and tinned food, until the end of June.

Joanne Gooch, store manager, said: “We love to help worthy causes in our local area and we were very keen to donate goodies to Forest Dog Rescue, while encouraging our customers to contribute pet food to the charity at the in-store collection point.

“The team does a wonderful job of caring for local animals and we hope our four-legged friends continue to enjoy their treats.”

Wendy Squires, sponsorship manager at Forest Dog Rescue, said: “Campaigns such as this are critical to enable us to continue caring for neglected dogs in the area and we are grateful to the team members and customers at Wilko in Kidderminster for their support.”
