Hartlebury WI

Have you ever thought what you would do if your child or grandchildren began to choke on food and could not get their breath?

Gail Hayward was faced with such a dilemma a few years ago. She felt helpless. With only three minutes to clear the airwaves you have to move quickly. Gail decided she should train as a first aider so that she could cope with basic accidents and emergencies. She then became a Red Cross volunteer and that provided the theme for the latest meeting.

Helped by her grandson, who fainted and fell to order, Gail gave members an insight into how to cope a range of incidents. It was also explained that the Red Cross is a worldwide organisation which gives help wherever it is needed and also arranges instruction in first aid.

It was reported that the Christmas meal in December at the Hartlebury Castle kitchen restaurant had been successful.

Social events to Upton-upon-Severn and Bletchley Park are going ahead and a bread-making class will take place on March 20. A team has been arranged for the County Quiz. Hartlebury WI will be hosting the Autumn Group meeting on Thursday, October 24. The next meeting is Wednesday, February 13, at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall with Julie Higginson helping members to enjoy the art of singing. Visitors are welcome.
