WORCESTERSHIRE County Museum at Hartlebury Castle has announced its new programme of events for the coming year.

Old favourites will be returning at the museum including an animal day on Monday, April 1, Adventures with Alice on May 27, a Festival of Transport on July 7 and a country fair on October 6.

A new event, pirate school, has also been added to the programme for the August bank holiday and will see children getting the chance to be a pirate for the day.

The Tantalising Talks programme has been expanded to include new subjects such as the costume collection, a talk on Worcester-born Music Hall star Vesta Tilley and an exploration of Worcestershire murders.

The first talk of the season, ‘A Curator’s Choice’, will take place on Wednesday, April 24 and features museum curator Robin Hill discussing his role and some of the more interesting things he has come across during his work.

Also new for 2013 are behind-thescenes tours of the off site stores on the first Wednesday of each month.

Rachel Robinson, visitor experience manager, said: “We are really looking forward to our events programme this year.

“Visitors to our big events such as the animal day and Adventures with Alice have always had a great day out and we hope to continue this success this year with our new pirate school event and our new selection of walks and talks which offer some unique opportunities to learn about some really interesting subjects.”
