HAGLEY school children will be safer on the streets after they took part in a programme to raise awareness in road safety.

As part of the recent road safety week campaign, Hagley Primary School joined forces with Cala Homes to provide all pupils with a special high visibility reflective armband to help them be seen on the journey to and from school.

Sarah Edwards, school business manager at Hagley Primary School, said: “Road safety is always a priority for us and we would like to thank Cala Homes for their kind donation.

“The armbands were well received by the children and we’re now expecting our pupils to be much more visible over the winter months, which gives parents and teachers peace of mind.

“We hope that more companies like Cala Homes will follow suit and help make roads safer for everyone, especially children.”

The annual campaign aims to get local communities, schools and organisations to come together to increase awareness of the loss of life on the roads and learn about the steps that can be taken to improve road safety.

Rachel Slater, marketing manager for Cala Homes, said: “We were really keen to work in partnership with Hagley Primary School to raise awareness of road safety amongst pupils.

“We hope that the armbands will help reinforce the importance of children being visible to motorists and of drivers watching their speed, particularly in built up areas and around schools.”
