STUDENTS and staff at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form in Hagley have been celebrating successes today - A-level results day.

More than half of all students at the Brake Lane school achieved passes at A* to B grades in each of their chosen A-levels - and 100 per cent of students passed the A-level courses they were studying.

Headteacher Caroline Hoddinott said: “I am extremely proud of the students and staff at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form who have worked so hard to achieve these excellent results."

A raft of high-flying students are now set to head off to top Russell Group universities after getting the grades they needed.

Outstanding individuals include Ellie Payne who will study medicine at Birmingham University, having achieved A* in mathematics and further mathematics and A grades in biology and chemistry; Daniel Starks, who will study medicine at Nottingham University after scoring an A* in chemistry and A grades in biology, mathematics and further mathematics; and Jonathan Lewis who be heading to Birmingham University to study biomedical science after securing A* grades in mathematics and chemistry and As in further mathematics and biology.

Meanwhile Calum Patel's A* grades in chemistry and food technology and A grades in mathematics and biology have gained him a place studying chemistry at Imperial College London.

Also commended were: Benjamin Hole, who gained A* in mathematics and A grades in further mathematics, physics and geography, and Billy Clift who gained A* in mathematics and further mathematics and an A in physics.

Chloe McCairn’s A* in geography and A grades in mathematics and German have earned her a place studying geography and German studies at Birmingham, while Jack Turner's A* in design and technology and A grades in mathematics and art and design mean he can take up a place at Leeds University to study product design.

Year 12 students James Sutton, Sarah Berry, Alexa Wittkop, Laura Moreton, Dharani Yogasivam, Heather Pope and Charlie Bruce were also congratulated after gaining A grades in all of their AS-levels.
