CHRISTMAS magic will be sprinkled on Hagley this weekend as a local primary school hosts its annual Christmas fair.

Hagley Primary School’s winter event will feature a variety of stallholders selling a range of ideal Christmas present gifts.

Among those will be local artist Claudia Buckle, who returns to her old school to showcase her burgeoning business.

The 29-year-old mother of two will exhibit a range of handmade Christmas plaques and gifts, including personalised signs, boxes and decorations, all made with what the young entrepreneur calls “a touch of magic”.

Claudia only launched the business from her kitchen six months ago, but has already received orders from all over the world.

She said: “I started making handmade items after the birth of our second son Hugo this year as a way of keeping myself occupied because I didn’t want to return to my full time job in a law firm.

“Having studied history of art as my first degree at Manchester University and enjoyed painting at school, I decided to do something creative by producing personalised wall plaques for our children.

“Friends were so impressed that they asked me to produce similar items for them - which encouraged me to launch Magic by Mimi.

“Using my Facebook and Instagram accounts and my website, I am getting orders from as far away as America!”

Bespoke orders that Claudia has delivered stateside include a plaque with an Alice in Wonderland theme for a baby Alice in Florida, and a special gift for a new-born Grace in Texas.

Hagley Primary School’s Christmas fair takes place between 11am and 2.30pm this Saturday (December 5).
