MORE than 2,000 people attended an outdoor screening of the box office smash Mamma Mia at Brinton Park in Kidderminster on Saturday, August 30.

Local residents dressed up as characters from the hit film, participated in an Abba-themed zumba extravaganza and danced away to live renditions of the Swedish band’s classic songs by duo Sadie Owen and Zoe Fuller and singer-songwriter Elisha Green.

A surprise flash mob performance by Splinters Dance School also entertained the crowds while the fancy dress competition saw children and families show off their creative outfits.

The event, which followed last year’s showing of Grease on the 40ft outdoor screen, was put on by Wyre Forest District Council.

Councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, well-being and housing at the local authority, said: “It was a lovely evening which gathered a large part of the community together.

“People were able to enjoy picnics and an evening of wonderful entertainment from young local talent.

“This free event was perfect for the whole family and we are already working on plans for next year.”
