STAFF at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre are ditching their normal uniform tomorrow (October 24) as part of Breast Cancer Awareness.

To support the nationwide Wear It Pink initiative, staff will be instead opting for something of the campaign’s colour.

Melissa Bettis, partnership, marketing and events manager for the centre, said: “Our staff are very much looking forward to taking part in this campaign.

“We are hoping that our members and customers will also get involved and join in.

“It will be a fun day and we are hoping that people will donate to this cause throughout the day - a great opportunity to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”

Now in its 13th year, Wear It Pink raises more than £2 million every year for breast cancer research that saves and improves lives – giving women quicker diagnosis and more effective treatments.

Every year 50,000 mothers, daughters, sisters and wives, and 350 men will be newly diagnosed with breast cancer and 12,000 women and 80 men pass away from the disease.
