A MUCH loved Kidderminster teacher has lost her battle against cancer.

Jane Morris, 61, of Comberton Road, who taught cookery and sewing at many schools around the area including Stourminster and Holy Trinity, died last week.

In her early life, Jane was brought up in Kidderminster and after attending Kidderminster High School for Girls went to Radbrook College, in Shrewsbury, to complete her teacher training.

She was immediately appointed head of department at Sladen School where she involved the students in catering for a variety of events throughout many years including Mayor Making and other civic functions.

Despite attempting to retire to concentrate on family life, Jane joined Stourminster School where she was able to teach students the art of home cooking.

She later moved to Holy Trinity School where she encouraged the creative abilities of her students in dress making and the widest uses of fabrics.

Her final attempt to retire was thwarted by long term “temporary” cover at Summerhill School, Kingswinford where she was described as a “popular teacher who will be sadly missed”.

Outside of her teaching life, Jane was a committed member of St George’s Church, in Radford Avenue, where her flower arranging skills brought her into contact with those visiting the church for both happy and sad occasions.

Within the church she was a founder member of the Ladies Fellowship and was frequently found organising catering for many social events.

Jane is survived by her husband Tim, a local surveyor and musician, daughters Harriett and Esther, and her parents Norman and Sylvia Tatlow.

A service of thanksgiving for Jane’s life will be held in St George’s Church at 11.15am on Monday, December 15.
