ONE of the UK’s most “unique” male voice choirs will be the special guests at a Valentine’s Day concert at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Bournemouth Male Voice Choir will be performing on the town centre stage alongside Kidderminster’s own Valentines on Saturday, February 14, at 7.30pm.

The Bournemouth choir is best known for its diverse programming, use of stagecraft and themed concerts, touching on as many different styles and genres as they can.

Sue Strong, treasurer of the Valentines, said the group's members were thrilled when their invitation to the Bournemouth choir to be special guests was accepted.

“We had the great honour of singing with them in Bournemouth last year,” she said.

“They are an extraordinary show choir and very different to many male voice choirs as they don’t just stand and sing.

“They are wonderful and it will be a privilege to sing on stage with them in Kidderminster. It will be a very exciting show.”

Bournemouth Male Voice Choir is led by eleventh year musical director Mark Burstow, who has conducted choral groups, societies, chamber choirs and musical theatre groups for the past twenty years.

Over the past ten years, the male choir, whose aim is to make choral singing fun for people of all tastes, has also helped to raise about £100,000 for charity.

Kidderminster Valentines, which will be celebrating its 27th year of performing this year, has grown to more than 80 members and sang all over Europe.

Tickets for the concert cost £10 for downstairs and £12 for upstairs and are available from town hall box office, John Beard’s in Bridge Street and Judy Morris on 01562 751753.
