A KIDDERMINSTER supermarket has put last year’s Christmas decorations to good use by donating them to local organisations.

The team at Sainsbury’s, in Carpet Trades Way, has provided a number of schools and charities with a selection of colourful decorations which were hung over the store’s shop-floor throughout December.

During the past week, Sainsbury’s staff members Helen Bower and Jo Pocierznicki visited St Marys Primary School, Kemp Hospice, Offmore Farm Residential Home and Franche Nursery with the donations.

Helen and Jo, Sainsbury’s PR ambassadors, said: “We had lots of really nice comments about our decorations this year so were really pleased that we can give them a new lease of life next year by donating them.

“I hope they get as much enjoyment out of them as our customers and colleagues did this year.”

The donation of a Christmas tree, baubles and ceiling hanging decorations helps to ensure the store maintain its commitment to its No Waste to Landfill campaign.

Customers can also avoid putting waste in landfills by using the Kidderminster store's recycling centre to recycle batteries, mixed paper and card, mixed cans, mixed glass and plastics.

The store is also accepting old clothing and other items including DVDs and books at the recycling centre which will go toward its support of Oxfam.
