The AGM on Tuesday, March 17, recorded another successful year for the club.

This was followed by Hilary Boyle’s slide show and talk on The Kidderminster- Husum Twinning Association from the germ of an idea to foster friendship and understanding in 1955 to the present day.

Many local organisations, families and individuals have visited Husum, a large town and port in North Friesland, Germany and hosted visits in return to Kidderminster.

Gardeners, golfers, quilters, choirs, schools and colleges amongst others have all enjoyed staying with host families in Husum and lasting friendships have been made.

Husum is famous for its crocuses in spring and visiting Husum gardeners planted their gift of corms in 2011 in Broadwaters Park.

Since then Kidderminster has had a growing show of beautiful lilac coloured crocuses planted by dozens of volunteer gardeners at various sites around the area.

Did you know that 2015 is designated as the international year of light?

To celebrate this, Ray Davies will be giving us an illustrated talk at our next meeting on April 21, entitled “Surprised by light”. Further information from Katharine on 01299 877989.
