A BRIERLEY Hill man has been found guilty for his part in growing cannabis at an historic Second World War nuclear bunker near Kinver.

Jason Raymond Whiley, aged 41, of Thorns Road, Quarry Bank, was found guilty of assisting in the production of cannabis at Drakelow Tunnels, at Wolverley, after a trial at Hereford Crown Court.

Co-defendant Wayne Robinson, from Kidderminster, faces a retrial next year after the jury failed to reach a verdict on his case.

The 47-year-old had pleaded not guilty to permitting premises to be used for producing a class B controlled drug. He was given bail until the new hearing.

Whiley was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.

The two were arrested after police uncovered 885 cannabis plants, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, in a raid at the disused bunker in November 2013.
