KINVER folk will be treated to the tinkling of ivories at a charity piano concert taking place at St Peter's Church next month.

The concert, on Saturday April 9, is designed to raise funds for piano scholarships at Kinver High School plus help with the preservation of picturesque St Peter's Church, an 11th century building which overlooks the village.

Lead recital at the concert will be performed by Mrs Ayaki Davies, a pianist schooled in Japan, who will play a number of pieces by Chopin and Beethoven.

There will also be a guest performances on piano and organ by Stourbridge pianist Michael Jones, while nine of Mrs Ayaki's students will also feature, many of whom have been taught by her at Kinver High School.

A similiar concert staged last April raised over £800, while giving the students an opportunity to perform in front of a large audience.

Already four students from Kinver High School have benefited from the piano scholarships.

Tickets for the concert can be obtained from Kinver High School on 01384 551000, St Peter's Church on 01384 872556 or from Mrs Davies on 01562 820018.
