A CHARITY concert held in Kinver raised more than £700 to fund piano scholarships at the village’s high school.
The charity performance at St Peter’s Church – in front of 120 people – also collected money for the preservation of the historic 11th century church.
Organiser Ayaki Davies was joined by on the bill by guest performer Michael Jones, who played a range of pieces by lesser known Russian composers on both the organ and the piano.
The concert also saw nine youngster between the ages of three and 15 take to the stage to show off their musical talents.
Owen Davies, Kinver High School’s Sixth Form leader, hailed the concert as a “great success”.
Ayaki, who performed piano pieces from Chopin to music celebrating Japanese composition, said: “The Spring Charity Concert is extremely important.
“Not only does it raise vital funds for supporting musical development, it also provides an opportunity for children to demonstrate – and learn – a love of classical music.”
