CHARITABLE Kinver horse riders took part in a fundraising fancy dress pub crawl with a difference at the weekend.

A team of 30 riders from the Jenny Preston-owned Sladd Barn Livery Stables visited five of the village’s pub on Saturday (July 23) – via horseback – raising £500 for Macmillan nurses.

Hayley Green, one of the fun ride organisers, drove in front of the riders as they followed her on their trip around the village watering holes. She said: “It couldn’t have gone any better.

“All the landlords at the five pubs we visited were so supportive and donated lots of money to help the Macmillan nurses.

“Many people in the village came out and were amazing. We were riding round with buckets and they were pouring the money in.

“So far, including donations made on the day, we have raised about £500, but there is still more to come in.

“After the ride around the pubs we went back to the yard and had a barbecue and got the paddling pool out. Some of us were still there at 3am the next morning.

“It was a brilliant day and everyone had an amazing time.”
