EXPERIENCES of dementia from people across South Staffordshire have been chronicled in an e-book which will be launched in Kinver this week.

Alzheimer’s Society’s memory eBook called ‘There are clouds there, but sometimes there’s blue skies’ charts the lives and experiences of people living with dementia across the region.

It will be launched during an event at The Senior Citizens Hall, in High Street, Kinver, on Thursday (October 13) between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

The book features accounts from sons, daughters and support charities such as Age UK, Home Instead and Cares Association of South Staffordshire, together with links to essential fact sheets and useful local contacts.

Television presenter, Nick Hancock, provides an introduction to the book and states: “The stories you will read in this book are local stories about real people living with dementia “The message from all of them is clear – you are not alone.”

An invitation to the launch event, which is free to attend and light refreshments are available, has been extended to all members of the community, and offers a chance to experience a Dementia Café – a place to chat, relax and meet dementia advisor, Jas Bansal, who can provide support, guidance and signposting.

The launch will be followed by a free ‘Dementia Friends’ information session where individuals can learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and how that understanding can be turned into action to continue to help people living with dementia to continue to live well.
