A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Kinver yesterday (Sunday, December 18).

The arrest was made following the discovery of a 26-year-old woman’s body at an address in Kenrose Mill just before 9:30am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were also called to the scene at 9.23am yesterday to reports of a woman in cardiac arrest.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We attended with an ambulance, a community paramedic rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer.

“Unfortunately it became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save the woman and she was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A police officer spokeswoman said: “Her family have been informed of her death and are being offered support by specially trained officers. Formal identification has not yet taken place.”

The woman’s death is currently being treated as “suspicious” and a 38-year-old man from the village has been arrested. He remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of murder.

A home office post mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon (Monday, December).

Sergeant Richard Gorman, local policing team commander for South Staffordshire, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the young woman who has tragically lost her life.

“We are in the very early stages of an investigation and I would ask people not to speculate about the incident while our inquiries take place.”

The address remains cordoned off while a detailed and thorough forensic examination is carried out.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "Everybody in the street is feeling terrible about what's happened. They seemed like a happy, lovely family."

Anyone with information about the incident should call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 246 of December 18.
