SOMERLEYTON WI: It was a case of ladies in red at the February meeting as it coincided with Valentines Day.

President Linda Sprosen thanked everyone for entering into the spirit of the evening by wearing something Red.

She informed members of the recent death of member Val Small. Her family had conveyed their thanks to those members who attended her funeral and for their condolences.

Members had enjoyed the New Years meal at the Crown and Sandys.

Arrangements are in hand for the forthcoming group meeting hosted by Hartlebury W I.to be held in April, when there will be a fashion evening presented by and for Kemp Hospice.

Olive Broadfield reminded members to save their used stamps which she is collecting for charity.

The speaker for the evening was Mike Griffiths who is an animal healer and zoopharmacologist. His talk was very interesting as he went on to inform members of healing animals through the use of therapeutic plants and other substances. He highlighted several successful outcomes for both domestic pets and larger animals who had either been injured or were suffering from stressful situations.

He was thanked by Val Gough.

Committee members had been busy making Valentines themed cup cakes for refreshment time.

Sandra Charlton had compiled a quiz on the theme of Love and this was won by Sue Jennings.

The competition this month was for a Valentines themed headdress which were modelled by their creators with Di Ferris being judged to be the winner.

The March meeting will be Gardeners Question Time and everyone was urged to come along to the meeting with their gardening questions for the panel.

Meetings are held at St Cecilias Hoo Brook at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month.
