Yvonne Cocks described her life as the first female Paramedic in Hereford and Worcester on land and in the air. A chance meeting with a nurse at a pub inspired Yvonne to apply for the post of ambulance driver despite a lack of confidence in her own abilities. Later the post of ambulance driver was up graded to paramedic. Now trained to administer drugs, measure blood pressure etc staff were able to give better treatment to patients before delivering them to hospital. Much to her surprise she was asked to apply for a post with the then fledgling Air Ambulance Service. After a gruelling physical test she was accepted by the service and spent her final years as a paramedic flying in helicopters.

At next months meeting on March 16 Bill Every will present a slide show entitled "Exploring the British Isles".

Meetings are held at the Lickhill Community Centre, Lickhill Road, Stourport, starting at 10 a.m.
