A KINVER-based author will provide insight into the process of bringing historical fantasy novels to life at a special evening at the village library.

Rachel Hodges, who writes under the pen name R E Hodges, will talk about how to create a world of landscapes and characters during the ‘Playing God and Being Evil’ event on Thursday, April 6.

Through readings of extracts from some of her work, including Dark Star Rising and The King's Curse & the Summer Son, Rachel will convey the fun to be had from escaping the humdrum routine of bills, targets and deadline.

She will also host a discussion on the writing process, appealing to readers and writers alike, and as her books are suitable for any audience, both adults and children are welcome to attend.

A firm believer in tapping into her vivid imagination to weave her tales and direct her characters, Rachel said: “I get immense satisfaction from playing God and being evil – despite being a very nice person.”

Starting at 7.30pm, entry into the event at Kinver Community Library, in Vicarage Drive, costs £2 (under 12s are free) and light refreshments will be provided.
