KIDDERMINSTER CIVIC SOCIETY: ‘Our Stour from Clent to Stourport’ was the subject of a fascinating talk by John Billingham on March 7 at The Museum Of Carpet.
This river was the busiest driver of industry in years gone by. From ironworks in Halesowen, chainmakers in Cradley, glassworks in Stourbridge to carpet mills in Kidderminster,
This short but hardworking river was the power behind the industrial revolution in our area. An informative, illustrated talk was delivered with deep knowledge and a wry sense of humour.
The next event will be a walking talk on April 8 by Nigel Gilbert and Bob Millward. We will meet at 11am, Bromsgrove Street Car Park (by the old Co-Op warehouse now The Fabric Shop.
The walk will cover Bromsgrove Street/George Street area. A small charge will be payable. All are welcome.
