ALL members of the family, whether plant and flower enthusiasts or not, are set to be catered for at Kidderminster Horticultural Society’s 60th annual show.

The Country Fair and Horticultural Show will take place on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 at the Mercure Kidderminster Hotel, in Habberley Road, Bewdley.

Opening at 10am on both days, this year’s official opening ceremony will be carried out at noon on the Saturday by BBC Hereford and Worcester, and Midlands Today presenter, Michael Collie.

As well as a traditional horticultural show featuring floral, fruit, vegetable, wine and crafts with prizes awarded by a panel of judges, there will be a gardener’s question time and cookery demonstrations.

Other activities at the event will include a plant sale, displays of vintage vehicles, old agricultural tools and an old-fashioned threshing machine.

Entertainment will include dancers, fire eating, a medieval display, dog agility, a Victorian round-a-bout, walking stick carving, sing-a-long forties music and a bouncy castle.

Refreshments available include homemade cakes, teas, sandwiches and an all-day barbeque, while produce will be sold at 5.15pm on the Sunday.

Louise Aston, society member and one of the organisers, said: “We’re delighted that Michael Collie is opening the show for the second time as he was very good last time.

“We are all really looking forward to the event - the fire eating and sing-a-long forties music should create a really nice atmosphere.

“It is a lot of hard work to put it on, as it’s an ongoing process. As soon as we finish this year’s show we’ll start planning for next year.”

Entry to the show, which closes at 5.30pm on the Saturday and 5pm on the Sunday, costs £2.50 for adults and children are free if accompanied by an adult.
