HEARTBROKEN brides and grooms-to-be face having their dream wedding days wrecked after their chosen venue closed suddenly.

The Mill Hotel, based in Aveley, near Kidderminster, has been shut amid financial concerns over owners Elysian Care Ltd.

Two care homes – Knoll House in Wolverhampton and The Homestead near Kinver – which are owned by the group have also closed with residents being moved to alternative accomodation.

It is claimed that staff at The Mill have not been paid for 13 weeks while care home workers have not received wages for two months.

The closure of the hotel has left scores of couples that had booked The Mill and paid deposits for their big days left in limbo and demanding answers.

Angry customers have been trying to contact The Mill and dozens of posts have been left on the hotel Facebook page but, to date, they have not received any responses.

A notice stuck on the door of the hotel reads, ‘Please note that due to unforseen circumstances, The Mill Hotel is not open at the present moment. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause. The Mill Hotel.’ Zoe Adams, aged 34, from Brierley Hill said she that, as well as paying a £500 deposit for her wedding to 36-year-old fiance Lloyd Brewin on August 1 next year, her 85-year-old grandmother had forked out £2000 towards the overall cost of hiring The Mill.

She said: “We are devastated. The first we heard about it was a rumour on social media before family members had contacted us with the news.

“I went to the hotel last night and saw the poster that had been put up. I have sent messages on Facebook that have been read but so far not responded to.

“My nan is distraught and she has been on the phone crying. What do I say to her when she has used her savings to help pay for my wedding?

“What is totally soul-destroying is that we don’t know what is happening for definite and therefore don’t know what to do. We are furious that no one has spoken to us.

“They held a wedding fair last weekend and the Facebook page is still advertising events for Halloween and Christmas but the website has gone offline.”

A member of staff at Knoll house care home, who did not wish to be named, said: “Residents are being moved out today but we don’t know what is happening to staff in the long term.

“We have not been paid for eight weeks and staff at The Mill have not been paid for 13 weeks. Everyone is upset. Both residents and staff are in tears.”

No-one from The Mill of Elysian Care Ltd was available for comment.
