FESTIVE spirit was all around Broadwaters Park once again as visitors flocked to the Christmas fair and market.

Jointly hosted by the Friends of Broadwaters and the Harkaway Scout Group, the annual fixture featured more than a dozen stalls selling Christmas gifts.

There was a visit from Father Christmas alongside the Kidderminster Lions, while Knocking on the Door Samba band played twice during the event to entertain the crowd.

A finale of fireworks, by Worcester based company Temple Fireworks, who also provided last year’s display, closed the evening.

Mike Abraham, chairman of Friends of Broadwaters, said: “We were lucky with the weather again this year and everybody seemed to enjoy the evening.

“We receive great support from the local community but while the fireworks are a free show on the night they have to be paid for from money raised over the year from our other events.

“We need everyone to be generous again this coming year and support us when they can, either at our Spring Plant Sale, the Summer Fete, buying raffle tickets or by personal donations, which are always greatly received.

“This year an anonymous local resident gave £40 and another £100 on the night in appreciation of the firework display.”

The draw for this year’s raffle was held at the Broadwaters Inn where the lucky prize winners took home a family pass for four people to West Midland Safari Park.
