A SPECIAL Christmas collaboration between a Kidderminster stage school and choir continued the festive countdown at the town hall.

Kidderminster Male Choir performed with students from Stagecoach Kidderminster at the local venue on Saturday (December 13).

The concert featured the choir singing a wide range of Christmas music, mixing the old with the new, while the children of Stagecoach took to the stage to perform tunes form well known musicals.

Zoe Priestley, Stagecoach Kidderminster principal, said: “The students loved it.

“We mostly perform to family and friends, so to perform in front of a large audience in this type of venue is something the singers have never done before.

“The town hall is a wonderful venue to perform in as the acoustics are brilliant so it was lovely to be signing on stage there.”

Stagecoach Kidderminster opened its doors in September 2003 for Children between four and 18-years-olds, with many of the young students going on to perform on the professional stage.

While the much older Kidderminster Male Choir, founded in 1904, is still going strong with members drawn from a wide area of the West Midlands and currently has about 60 men proud to wear the group’s distinctive red jacket.

Zoe added: “We were really honoured to have been asked by Kidderminster Male Choir to perform alongside them.

“They are a wonderful choir and it was great for us just to be asked.”
