PUPILS at a Kidderminster Primary School have been invited to create their own posters for a Walk to School campaign.

The children of Birchen Coppice Primary School were asked by building firm Taylor Wimpey to design posters which focus on encouraging drivers to slow down.

In recognition of their efforts, the company donated gift vouchers to the first, second and third placed entries in the competition.

Jason Cortis, community activities officer at the school, said: “We encourage the children to walk to school to promote a healthier lifestyle and to reduce traffic outside the school.

“We were delighted to accept Taylor Wimpey’s challenge to design posters and were really pleased with pupils’ designs.”

Elaine Taylor, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, which is why we invited pupils at Birchen Coppice Primary School to take part in our poster competition.

“Walking to school can make a real difference to children’s health and wellbeing, but we understand why some parents have concerns about traffic and speeding.

“Our poster campaign was a great way to get the message across to drivers outside the school that they need to be considerate and slow down, and I’d like to congratulate all of the children who took part.”

First place in the poster competition went to Callum Cope, Maja Kobzba took home second place, while Harley Maroney came third.
