At the last meeting Alan Peace demonstrated his enthusiasm for sustaining the beleaguered Owl population throughout the world. In this country the number of Barn Owls in the wild fell by 80% between 1930 and 1980 due to environmental issues. The position has now been stabilised by a breeding and release programme initiated by the World Owl Trust, but the struggle continues.
Perhaps the highlight of our afternoon was the live demonstration of silent flight by ‘Barney the owl’.
This club for retired men with professional, business or similar backgrounds, provides a programme of stimulating talks at meetings throughout the year. For details visitkidderminsterdistrictprobus.btck.co.uk
