KIDDERMINSTER & DISTRICT ARCHAEOLOGICAL & HISTORICAL SOCIETY: On March 30, Richard Bradley will give a talk to the society entitled "Dig Lich Street: excavations at the Cathedral Roundabout, Worcester".

From March to July 2015 a programme of archaeological excavation took place prior to alteration of the road layout and the creation of a public square at the southern end of the High Street in the centre of Worcester, within the confines of the former roundabout. The excavation was focused on the remains of Lich Street, a medieval street that formerly marked the boundary between the city and the cathedral precinct, before later road building and alteration in the 19th and 20th century dramatically altered this area. This talk will detail the nature of the project and how it was undertaken in a logistically challenging environment, as well as the history of the area, the archaeological remains encountered, the important and interesting finds recovered, the presentation of the site to visitors, and how it has been preserved for the future.

The talk will be presented by Richard Bradley who is currently a project officer at Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, where he has worked for the past six years, and undertakes a variety of commercial archaeological fieldwork projects across the Midlands and wider region.

The meeting following will be on Wednesday, April 6, when the society's AGM (open to visitors as well as members) will be followed by a talk by Dr Bob Millward entitled "Kidderminster-born Walter William Law: concerning his life in America".

Meetings of the society open at 7.30 for a 7.30pm start and are held in St George's Annexe, adjacent to St George's Church, Radford Avenue, Kidderminster.

There is a small charge for visitors who are very welcome
