THE ROTARY CLUB OF KIDDERMINSTER: The club welcomed Sarah Hindley who explained ways that "Deaf Direct" can help people with different degrees of hearing loss. One in six people suffer some form of hearing loss which can double the risk of depression, increase the risk of dementia, or stop people reaching their full potential. With hearing loss being on the increase, Deaf Direct is increasingly under resourced as it runs Sign Language Clubs, lip reading courses, and youth camps. Help is given to people with life’s general activities like providing interpreters for doctors and the police, and assistance with shopping, museum trips and theatre trips.
