KIDDERMINSTER SOROPTMISTS: At the recent supper meeting at La Brasserie we welcomed Kay Butler, Head of Birchen Coppice Primary School, as speaker. Under the current motto for these talks “Why I am ...” she gave a very vivid and fascinating account of her somewhat indirect career path. From dropping out of A-level studies at school, having a series of very wide ranging jobs before embarking on some serious studies, gaining full teaching qualifications and against all odds securing her first and still current post as Head Teacher of Birchen Coppice - certainly not the softest option. She enlightened us with some eye-opening facts and figures but also entertained us with many very amusing anecdotes. We could have listened to her all evening.

Now we are looking forward to an ‘Afternoon Tea with Henry Sandon’ (of Antiques Roadshow fame). Just in case you have missed our previous notifications here is a reminder: On October 11, there is afternoon tea with Henry in Baxter Hall, The Bull Ring, Kidderminster DY10 2AA, as from 2.30 pm for £7.00 per person. You are welcome to bring along a single ceramic or porcelain item for Henry to value for which there is a charge of £3.00. All proceeds in aid of the Worcestershire Young Carers.
