At the January meeting of Somerleyton W I president Linda Sprosen wished all members a Happy New Year and welcomed a new member Averal Chinn to the group.

Janet Parry gave a report on the pre Christmas visit to Blakedown W I Christmas Pantomime which had been a most enjoyable evening.

Treasurer Jane Inns informed us that £90 had been raised for the charity Dial a Ride in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

Final arrangements were made for the New Year Meal to be held on the 17th January at The Crown and Sandys Ombersley.

Following the business it was time to have some fun! The committee had organised a games evening. Several brisk games of Beetle were played with the lucky winners being Pat Webb, Diane Ferris who won two games and Betty Gittins.

Sue Jennings acted as bingo caller for a session of bingo which was won by Olive Broadfield, Pat Holmes with Diane Ferris who was on a lucky streak winning at bingo too.

After refreshments were served, it was time to get our thinking caps on for Olive Broadfields challenging quiz based on The Weather, which resulted in a tie break question between Val Gough and Celia Muir, with Val Gough being the overall winner.

Everyone agreed it had been an enjoyable evening.
