KIDDERMINSTER SOROPTIMISTS: Last year ended with a fascinating visit to the Coffin Works in Fleet Street, Birmingham and the 15th Annual Public Speaking Competition held by Midland Arden Region in Birmingham’s prestigious Council House. The club had entered two candidates from Baxter College – Louis Wharton and Madison Wright, who, although they did not win, gave very competent and interesting presentations. The new business year on April 1 with another successful and lively annual Reflection Day and April 6 was the first Business meeting with the exchange of insignia when President Denise Carson will hand over the ‘office’ and its presidential chain to president Elect Hilary Thompson.
Another timely reminder to all bridge players: there is still time to book your place on the annual Charity Bridge Drive in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society will take place on April 26, at its regular venue in the Parish Rooms, 18 Belbroughton Road, Blakedown, 10-4pm with a prompt start of play at 10.30am.
