KINVER Rotary Club more than doubled the amount usually raised at its annual Children in Need quiz last Friday (November 22).
The Edward Marsh Centre, Kinver, was filled to capacity, as 42 teams of four prepared to test their general knowledge.
But before quizmaster Alan Dedicoat, who calls out the National Lottery numbers, began the quiz, he was presented with two surprise cheques, which boosted the total raised to £3,153.
Rtn Clive Corbett, who is also the headteacher at Pershore High School, presented a cheque for £1,500 raised by the students and Julia Roseblade, wife of past president Clive Roseblade, handed over a cheque for nearly £400, which was raised by pupils at Goldthorne Park School in Wolverhampton, where she is headteacher.
After the quiz, Mr Dedicoat, also known as the voice of the balls, said: “We have been raising more than £1,000 from this event for some years now. "To leave with over £3,000 is absolutely magnificent so I do thank the staff and pupils at the two school and all the regular quizzers who have come along year after year.”
