FEBRUARY 10 found members spending an evening in the dry, away from the rain, listening to the story of the daily lives of canal people.

Not the holiday boaters of today but the hard-working families of the past, when eight was considered a suitable age to steer and labour on board these floating freight carriers and homes.

The person who gave this infomation was Julie Tonkin, who also displayed her beautiful boat art, decorated pieces covered in roses and castles.
