KINVER Rotary Club has commissioned one of the country’s leading stone masons to refurbish Kinver Edge's toposcope.
The monument has been exposed to severe weather conditions since it was placed at the beauty spot in 1990 and as a result, the slate top, which features the names and direction of various towns and landmarks, has cracked.
It will now be replaced with a piece of black granite and the lettering on the new top, which will be an exact replica of the original, will be carried out by Perfitt of Norfolk, whose work is to be seen extensively at the National Memorial Arboretum at Arlewas.
The refurbished toposcope will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday May 17, which will be attended by South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson.
