In September was our Autumn Show. Our members showed off their gardening skills with the high number of entries.

There were fruit and vegetables of all shapes and sizes and of excellent quality, some fantastic blooms, not forgetting the floral arrangements, domestic classes with cakes, jams and pickles.

The Craft Class competition was two egg cosies.

I never knew that egg cosies could come in so many shapes and sizes.

Many members came along with a full compost bag in which they had grown and nurtured one seed potato.

With great anticipation the result of the weigh in was: the winner Mr Bundred with 8lbs8ozs.

Commiseration to the member with just 6.5ozs. Well done to all the others and better luck next year.

The cups and trophies were won by Ron Marsh, Steve Pickard, Mavis Phillips and Beryl Round. Our September meeting, which was the final round of the Morgan Shield Quiz, the teams came along with their supporters.

It was a hard fought competition but when the points were added from the previous rounds, Wollaston were jubilant and carried off the shield.

Kinver came second and Kidderminster third. Everyone then enjoyed the excellent refreshments provided by Kinver Ladies.

We have an outing to Picton Gardens and Pennycroft on October 9.

Our next meeting will be on October 30 at 7.30pm at St. Peters Church Hall, Vicarage Drive, Kinver.

Rosemary Winnal will talk on “Sailing in the Hebrides”.

We always welcome visitors to come along.
