MORE than 40 good causes are set to receive a slice of the £18,000 raised at this year's Kinver Country Fayre.

A host of village organisations, charities and clubs will be given a helping handout at a presentation at St Peter's Church Hall on Thursday November 12 - following the success of this year's fayre which proved the best-ever, attracting more than 12,000 visitors.

Jane Sadler, chairman of Kinver Country Fayre, said: “The fayre this year was very well attended with the main attraction, The Knights of Middle England, really pulling in the crowds.

“We are thrilled to be able to help such a wide cross-section of the community as a result of a successful day.

"We're giving away 50 per cent more than we gave away last year which is fantastic. Grants are going to such a wide range of groups like schools, Brownies, Scouts and Guides and a whole range of sports clubs including Kinver Colts, Kinver Bowling Club, Kinver Football Club and the Kinver Fitness Collective, plus St Peter's Church, Kinver Rotary Club and the Community First Responders who are trying to raise money for a defibrillator for the High Street."

Plans are now already underway for next year’s country fayre which will take place on Sunday June 19.

Meanwhile village traders and residents are gearing up for seasonal fun when Kinver's Big Tree Switch-on takes place on Friday November 27.

Stourbridge Rock Choir will be performing at the event, which starts at 6.15pm and which will include a visit from Kinver Rotary Club's Santa and his sleigh.

Many of the shops will also be offering late night shopping.
