KINVER & DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: There was a real buzz and great turnout at the last meeting when plantsman Paul Green gave us an entertaining talk on 'Plants Looking Good Now'. Paul illustrated his talk with a dazzling collection of plants to buy. Paul said many of his plants could successfully be used in pots enabling gardeners to ring the changes and bring the more tender specimens in during the winter. He advised keeping the compost airy and not too compacted.

There will be two coach trips this year on June 9 to Hampton Court Castle and July 22 to Wollerton Old Hall and Hodnet Hall. Monthly competition winners - 'A small vase of spring flowers' - Rosemary Pope. 'Garden flower of the month' - Rosemary Pope

Do you believe in Magic? If not, prepare to be convinced when Richard Baldwin comes to speak to us about 'The Magic of pH'. He will be at our next meeting to convince us that if we get our soil pH right we can cast a spell over our flowers and vegetables . Members and visitors need to bring in one soil sample each, made up of soil selected from different locations within the garden. Visitors welcome on the last Thursday of the month, 7.30pm at St Peters' Church Hall, Vicarage Drive, Kinver. Full details visit kinverhorti.org.uk
