A KIND-hearted Stourbridge paperboy is having time off from his round to take part in the biggest charity cycling challenge of his life.
Kinver High School pupil James Gaskin will ride more than 100 miles on Saturday (August 5) as he cycles from his home town to Aberdovey on the Welsh coast.
The 13-year-old, who delivers the Stourbridge News to homes around Norton Road, hopes to use the challenge to raise as much money as possible for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
James said: “I have only ever cycled 65 miles before and found this really hard.
“I know that cycling from Stourbridge to Aberdovey will mean a long time in the saddle, approximately seven to eight hours in total.
“Obviously, I’m expecting several hills to climb along the way and I’m sure that by the end I will be truly shattered.
“I’m the lucky one though as I am fit and active, and so I wish to do something to help raise money for my chosen charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice.”
James, who will be cycling alongside his dad Chris, has set himself a fundraising target of £500 for the hospice and has already collected more than £400 in sponsorship.
