BLACK Country Irish Dancers are celebrating after being crowned winners at the recent Scottish Open Championships.

A number of performers from the Katie Collins School of Irish Dance, who all train up to four days a week at classes in Kinver and Kidderminster, brought home titles.

Amybea Garrett, aged 24, of Brierley Hill, was awarded the 17 and over winners’ crown, while 12-year-old Fay Peters, of Wall Heath, became the 11 and under champion.

Seren Hudson, of Stourport, was named the seven and under champion, with Kidderminster’s Faith Woodall, British Open Champion from May this year, taking the nine and under title.

Katie Hulagu, who has ran the school for the past 11 years, said: “Obviously I was over the moon with the results. One champion is brilliant but getting four on the same day was a personal best for the school.

“But all the other dancers who I took also did so well.

“I was especially proud of Faith as she has recently just been crowned British Champion in May, so it was a very special moment for her.”
