BOOK lovers in Kinver are being urged to join one of the library’s two reading groups.

Once a month, Kinver Community Library holds two groups where readers can get together and get more out of their books, while enjoying the company of like-minded people and discovering authors and titles that they might not otherwise have chosen.

The free sessions cater for all, with a morning group meeting between 10.30am and 12.30pm on the second Tuesday in the month, while the sundowners’ group meet on the third Tuesday of the month from 5.45 until 6.45pm.

New members are being invited to both informal groups, which are self-managed without a leader but involve plenty of opportunity to share opinions.

Members can make recommendations for the two books which are chosen per month. More often than not they are works of fiction, recent titles being John Le Carré's The Night Manager and John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley.

Volunteer co-ordinator Ruth Pearsall, who attends the evening group, said: “Fresh eyes on something you’ve read often crystallises your own thoughts. It’s perfectly ok not to finish a set book if you don't get on well with it for whatever reason, but sometimes members find the least promising books turn out to be a revelation.”

The next morning group meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday, April 11), with the evening group meeting next Tuesday (April 18).
