A MAN who poured petrol on to a car in Rock and set it alight may have injured himself in the process.
It happened in New Road between 8.30pm and 9.20pm yesterday.
The offender approached a Vauxhall Corsa, which was parked on a drive, and poured petrol from a petrol can on to the roof.
PC Marc Ginder of West Mercia Police said: "The offender then lit the petrol, which went up very quickly, meaning the offender is likely to have been caught in the blast. He then ran from the scene.
"There was minimal damage to the car as the occupants of the house quickly used a hose to put out the fire."
The offender is described as a white man with his face partly covered by a scarf.
PC Ginder added: "This incident could have been much more serious. Petrol is highly flammable and the offender clearly risked his own life.
"He may have sustained burns, and we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who with information about who may be responsible to contact me on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 207-N-281112, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
